Historic-district brunch and Hilltop Inn open house set this month; commission notified of events

Commission staff told the Davenport Historic Preservation Commission on Sept. 9 about two upcoming public events in the city’s historic neighborhoods. The Gold Coast and Hamburg Historic District will host a brunch and garden tour on Saturday, Sept. 13. Brunch runs 9–10:30 a.m. with a presentation at 11 a.m.; the combined brunch and tour pricing was described as $40 per attendee for brunch with a separate garden-tour fee of $15 for the tour that runs 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Staff asked commissioners to share details with family and neighbors. Staff also announced a Good Neighbor Project open house at the Hilltop Inn on Tuesday, Sept. 16, starting at 4:30 p.m. Chris, who introduced the project at the meeting, said the open house will include presentations from Good Neighbor Project staff (named participants in the meeting included Sergeant Harris and Ellie McWilliams) and is intended as a positive, community-building event rather than an airing of grievances. Both items were presented as community outreach and informational; no formal commission action was requested.
