Brad Saron, superintendent of the Sun Prairie Area School District, told the Sun Prairie Area School District Board of Education that the administration met the standard for communication in all 11 monitored areas and that Operational Expectation 8 will be transitioned into a board‑superintendent relationship policy and no longer monitored.
The change, Saron said during his presentation of the monitoring report, moves the expectations now captured in Operational Expectation 8 into a newly titled Board‑Superintendent Relationship Policy 3, called "Communication and Engagement between the Board and the Superintendent," for the 2025–26 school year and beyond. He said the district included a cover sheet and the full board monitoring report with the agenda item.
Saron presented the monitoring materials and summarized the district's findings: "we have met the standard for compliance in 11 of 11 areas that the board has outlined," referring to the expectations for the 2024–25 school year. He told the board the administrative team was submitting the report for the board's consideration and review. He also stated that the concepts in Operational Expectation 8 "were transitioned into the board superintendent relationship policy 3" and that "at that point, it will not be monitored."
Saron invited board members and other interested parties to contact him with questions or concerns about the report or the policy transition. The transcript does not record a motion or vote on the transition during this presentation.
