Neighborhood Services inspectors told the magistrate a generator installed on the driveway of a North Miami property remained in place without required permits and had been present in the same location for years. The magistrate entered adjudication, set a 30‑day abatement date and imposed a $250 daily fine if the owner does not obtain the required permits.
Inspector Jonathan Lemestri said the generator had been connected to the building and that aerial and property appraiser checks showed the generator “has been there for over 5 years,” dating to about 2020. Lemestri said the owner was aware a permit was required but had not obtained one.
The magistrate found good notice had been given, ruled in favor of the city and entered adjudication. The owner was ordered to obtain a building permit or remove the generator; if unresolved by the abatement date, a $250 daily fine will apply.
A second, related case cited the generator being stored on a trailer; the same adjudication outcome and fine schedule were applied in that case as well. The magistrate noted that building or electrical department review may be required to finalize whether the installation presents a safety issue.
