Neighborhood Services inspector Jonathan Lemestri said his review of a complaint and on‑site response on July 5 showed a short‑term rental being used for a birthday party and that an attendee at the scene told a city official the property had been rented for the day. “I posted the notice of violation at the property, and I also mailed out the notice of violation,” Lemestri said. The case was heard Sept. 3.
The owner, Jeffrey Arias Campos, said he lives in California, that the tenant had already vacated the property, and that he was unaware of the short‑term rental activity. The magistrate acknowledged the owner’s lack of direct involvement but said that, as property owner, he remains responsible for code compliance. The magistrate entered an adjudication and set a one‑time fine at $750, with the clerk advising payment through the City of North Miami to clear the case and allow transfer to a new owner if the sale proceeds.
