Oviedo — Parks and recreation leaders told the City Council on Aug. 25 that Riverside Park has reopened for senior and youth programming, the city’s 100-year anniversary drew sponsors and vendors, and staff wants to realign the city’s list of official sponsored events to reflect current attendance and cost-recovery goals. Recreation and parks director (presenter identified in the meeting as Mr. Belden) said Riverside reopened in March and currently has 103 senior-pass holders and a growing slate of programs. The department listed five accomplishments including Center Lake landscaping work, new preventative-maintenance contracts for city HVAC and roofs, Riverside reopening and a successful 100-year anniversary celebration.
