Hutchinson County commissioners approved a group of routine administrative items during the meeting. The court voted to issue US Bank credit cards to various departments and individuals based on an auditor-provided list, with one added card for the county attorney at a $1,500 limit and a change of a judge’s card assignment to a department card. The court accepted a general-liability and auto insurance policy from the Texas Association of Counties for the stated policy period. The auditor presented the policy documents and premium figures to the court during the consent/regular agenda. On property and asset disposition, staff recommended disposing of the sheriff’s 2024 Ford Explorer through salvage channels. Staff described options including online salvage auctioneers (Copart, IAA) and a local salvage offer; staff recommended releasing the vehicle to insurance or proceeding with salvage auction and said cost and fees vary. The court approved disposal/salvage of the vehicle as presented and directed staff to return any contract or fee approvals for commissioner review where required. The court also considered a struck-off tax property at 500 Allen. A $500 bid from Savannah Bible and Holly Hollis was presented; staff said taxes had not been paid since 2018 and the appraisal district appraised the property at $43,270. The court moved, seconded and approved acceptance of the $500 bid. Other routine items approved or discussed included the county’s optional $10 road-and-bridge fee under the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles imposition of optional fees and minor budget amendments to reflect museum donations and the library grant award.
