Family establishes endowed fund for Bibich Elementary; first gift to be disbursed annually

Bibich Elementary Principal Allison Petralia and donor Bob Burish addressed the board May 5 about an endowed gift established through the Point Community Foundation in memory of Burish’s wife, a former Bibich teacher.
Petralia said Burish contacted her about a year ago to create a perpetual fund in memory of his wife. The principal said the family named the endowment and that the first donation has been received; the fund will provide an annual distribution to Bibich. During a brief exchange about timing, Petralia corrected an initial statement and said the former teacher passed away two years ago.
Burish said he wanted to create a gift that would “outlast both of us,” and the board and principal described the endowment as a lasting way to honor their colleague. The donation was included in the packet of gifts the board approved earlier in the meeting; the board approved all donations by voice vote as part of the consent agenda.
Principal Petralia called the gift “a wonderful honor” and thanked Burish for establishing the endowment to benefit Bibich students and staff.
