Council approves resolution to support home-repair loan program administered by Champlain Housing Trust

Travis (Champlain Housing Trust) and city staff explained the program provides low-interest amortizing loans, deferred loans or occasional grants for essential life-safety repairs, accessibility work and urgent household repairs for households at or below 80 percent of area median income.
Councilors asked about program history and local impact; staff and CHT representatives said the program has operated for multiple grant cycles and has repaired roofs, hot-water systems, windows and other items for residents with limited income. The council approved the resolution, which attests the municipality will not use the block-grant funds to supplant already-budgeted city services.
