Mrs. Castaneda presented the middle- and upper-elementary textbook adoption committee recommendations for language arts.
She said the ELA 6–8 committee chose Amplify ELA, noting "Amplify is rated all green on ed reports and earned perfect scores across all gateways." The committee selected Open Court for fifth grade and the presentation noted the program "aligns with the elementary level" and that elementary implementation has been associated with reported gains in student achievement.
Administrators told the board that Amplify provides built-in differentiation, a daily routine of vocabulary, close reading and writing tasks, and is available in both digital and print formats. The district said teacher training for Amplify ELA has already begun for grades 6–8 and that Open Court training is scheduled for May.
Board action: the board received the adoption committee report; no separate roll-call adoption vote was recorded on the meeting transcript.
