The Lake Central School Corporation Board of Trustees on June 16 approved personnel recommendations, professional leave requests, updated employee handbooks and other routine items presented in the board packet.
The approvals came during the regular agenda after the consent agenda passed. Board President Mrs. Seuss called roll as each item was presented; motions were made, seconded and approved by recorded voice votes with all members voting aye.
Items approved included minutes from the May 19 executive session and regular meeting, claims and payroll, personnel recommendations, professional leave requests for district staff, the updated classified employee handbook, the administrative handbook, the food service handbook, the custodial and maintenance department manual, field trip requests and donations included in the packet.
Several motions were moved by Dr. Malco and seconded by Miss Kelly or Mrs. Tallent depending on the item. For example, the motion to approve the minutes and claims was moved by Dr. Malco and seconded by Mrs. Tallent; the board recorded "Aye" votes from Mr. Marshall, Dr. Malco, Mrs. Tallent, Miss Kelly and President Mrs. Seuss and declared the motion passed. The same voting pattern was recorded for subsequent approvals.
Informational items included a NIPSCO incentive check for $558.80 the district received for equipment work at Piper during spring break; the facilities director indicated the payment was from NIPSCO following an inspection.
The approvals were presented as routine business and generated no substantive debate; there were no public comments on action items.
The board scheduled its next meetings for Monday, June 30 and Monday, July 14.
