Lake Central students honored for peer-led vaping-prevention videos; county group cites recent tobacco tax increase

Lake Central High School students and their teacher were recognized June 16 during a Lake Central School Corporation Board of Trustees meeting for producing peer-to-peer videos about the risks of vaping that will be used locally and nationally.
The recognition came from Irene Boone Phillips, tobacco prevention coordinator for Tobacco Free Lake County, who presented certificates and a letter from the Indiana Department of Health. "When we empower our youth to use their talents and passions, teach them leadership skills, and give them opportunities for expression, we get amazing results," Phillips said as she introduced the students.
