Board authorizes payments and sets public hearing time for FY26 budget
Summary
The board authorized payment of July/August bills not to exceed $742,332.93 and set a public hearing and adjusted the Sept. 15 meeting time for the FY26 budget presentation.
At its Aug. 11 meeting the Homeless School District 153 Board authorized a second payment of July 2025 bills and the first payment of August 2025 bills "in an amount not to exceed $742,332.93," and approved scheduling changes to accommodate the FY26 budget public hearing.
The payment authorization motion, presented by the chief school business official and recommended by the superintendent, set a maximum payment amount for routine vendor invoices and payroll-related disbursements between fiscal periods. The motion passed on roll call.
Separately, the board approved setting a public hearing on the FY26 budget and changing the time of the regular Sept. 15 board meeting so the public hearing will take place immediately before that meeting (estimated start about 7:15 p.m.). The changes were presented as consent-agenda items and were approved by the board.
Administrators said the budget hearing will be scheduled and publicized to allow residents to review and comment on the proposed FY26 budget prior to board adoption in September.
