Lake Central board approves personnel recommendations, evaluation plans and donations; budget timeline presented

At its Monday meeting the Lake Central School Board approved a slate of routine personnel and administrative items, including personnel recommendations, professional leave requests, a certified staff evaluation plan, an administrator evaluation plan, and donations included in the board packet.

Assistant Superintendent Castaneda sought approval of revised personnel recommendations; the motion passed after a board member moved and another seconded. Director of Primary Education Dr. Bracey and Director of Secondary Education Mrs. Schuneman each sought and received board approval for professional leave and related items. Dr. Bracey sought approval of the certified teacher evaluation plan and an administrator evaluation plan; both motions passed on voice votes after brief questions from board members.

Director of Student Services Mrs. Grama described an alternative special education licensing program (referred to at the meeting as ASSET) and said the program is funded by a grant through the U.S. Department of Education; the board approved related professional leave for a participating teacher. Director of Business Services Mr. James presented donations included in the packet; the board approved acceptance of the gifts. Mr. James also outlined the proposed budget timeline: he will give the district’s 2026 budget presentation at the next regular board meeting, with public hearings and adoption scheduled in September and October.

All motions that were called passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The approvals were processed as regular agenda items; no motions failed or were tabled.
