Commission approves $1,900 scholarship allocation for Miss Carbon County royalty

Carbon County commissioners on Sept. 5 approved a $1,900 allocation to the Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization to be used for college scholarships for the 2026 pageant royalty.
Kylie Howes, director of the Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization, introduced the newly crowned 2026 royalty and requested that the commission continue a past practice of donating $1,900 for scholarships. ‘‘In the past, the commissioners have donated $1,900 to use towards college scholarships for our royalty, and we would greatly appreciate the continued support,’’ Howes said.
A commissioner moved to grant the $1,900, and Commissioner Hedlock seconded the motion. The commission approved the request by voice vote. Howes invited commissioners to events and asked them to contact the organization when they want royalty involvement in community activities.
