Redevelopment Agency holds public hearing on Intermountain Industrial CRA budget amendment; no public comments on project

The Carbon County Redevelopment Agency held a public hearing Sept. 5 on an amended Intermountain Industrial community reinvestment project area (CRPA) budget tied to the Intermountain Electronics expansion project. Agency staff and economic development consultants explained the amendment adds two years to the budget to honor the original incentive agreement after a state tax-commission communication issue, and to support a company expansion that began in 2019.
Stuart Clayson, who provides economic development services to the county and presented the item, said the amendment ‘‘honors the original intent of the agreement we made with the company’’ and that the plan itself has not changed. Shani (county economic development staff) and Stuart said the county completed required interlocal steps and this hearing was the last procedural step to complete the amendment.
One member of the public, David Kale, attended and raised an unrelated property-line concern; he was advised to consult county staff during business hours. No public comment related to the CRA amendment was recorded. After the hearing closed, the Redevelopment Agency moved to reconvene the commission.
