County approves multi-jurisdictional mutual aid agreement covering Wasatch Canyon incidents

Carbon County commissioners on Sept. 5 approved a 2025 multi-jurisdictional mutual-aid agreement that includes Wasatch Fire District, Spanish Fork City, Carbon County, Helper Fire Department, Price Fire Department and Utah County.
Justin, county emergency staff who presented the agreement, said the arrangement clarifies responses to incidents in the Wasatch Canyon area where jurisdictions overlap and response times vary. ‘‘It’s more of a formalization of some of the things that happen up there and how we operate,’’ Justin said. He added that while the canyon is in Wasatch County, the area is remote and agencies from Carbon and neighboring jurisdictions often provide faster response.
Commissioners voted to adopt the agreement by voice vote. Helper City and Price and Utah County representatives were noted as active participants in the response area; the agreement is intended to make multi-agency responses more consistent and to meet state preferences for written interlocal arrangements.
