Board approves $54,778 elevator repair contract for courthouse flood damage; Bancorp to reimburse

Mister Harrison presented the request and said courts returned to normal within two weeks after the incident and that many repairs are complete, though some work such as flooring will be scheduled over the coming 60 days because of material lead times. He said the elevator repair expense will be reimbursed by Bancorp.
The motion to approve the contract passed with affirmative votes from Supervisors Lyons, McDaniel, Day, Lewis and Chair Ayers.
Why it matters: The courthouse elevator is public infrastructure; repairing it restores public access and court operations. The cost will be managed through an appropriation and is expected to be reimbursed by the insurer or claims administrator named Bancorp.
