Carbon County approves $41,000 budget increase for Children’s Justice Center

The Carbon County Commission on Sept. 5 approved a budget amendment that raises the Children’s Justice Center (CJC) operating budget by approximately $41,000 for fiscal year 2026, bringing the total to $312,899 through June 2026. The motion to approve the amendment passed unanimously.
Shelley Wright, who presented the request, told commissioners the amendment was needed to cover expenses during the fiscal year. ‘‘That’s exactly what it is,’’ Wright said while summarizing the amendment request. Commissioners asked no substantive questions during the discussion and formally approved the change.
The amendment was presented during the regular commission meeting; Wright briefed commissioners on other budget pressures she has managed in prior years. The commission signed the amendment following a motion and second from commissioners on the dais.
No public comment on the amendment was recorded during the meeting. The approved amendment will become part of the county’s fiscal 2026 budget documents and signatory steps were completed immediately after the vote.
