Planning board appoints members to city's 2025 CIP committee; review schedule set for October

The Planning Board on Sept. 2 appointed and confirmed members to the city's Capital Improvement Program committee and reviewed the committee's October meeting schedule and presentation lineup. Appointments and composition Under the council resolution governing the committee, the CIP body includes three Planning Board members, three City Council members (finance committee), and four members of the public. For the 2025 cycle the Planning Board confirmed board members to serve and reappointed public members who expressed willingness to continue: Mike Little, Carol Mueller and Marsha Hayward (public members), and Janine LaRoche (already appointed). The board also volunteered three Planning Board members to sit on the committee for the review process. Schedule and department presentations Staff provided the CIP timeline: meetings begin Oct. 2 and continue on Thursdays through early November, culminating in a final ranking meeting on Nov. 6. Departments were assigned presentation dates; examples: Oct. 9 (water, police, public works), Oct. 16 (fire, library, parks & recreation), Oct. 23 (SAU/schools, code enforcement, planning, administration/finance). Staff told the board that department heads had been instructed to appear in person for presentations. Board direction and next steps Board members agreed to the appointments and the presentation schedule. Staff emphasized that the CIP committee's recommendations will be forwarded to City Council and incorporated into the capital budgeting process. Ending The CIP committee will meet according to the published Oct/Nov schedule to hear department capital requests and produce prioritized recommendations that will be transmitted to City Council as part of the budget process.
