At Thursday’s meeting the Page County School Board approved a resolution asking the Page County Board of Supervisors to appropriate additional state and federal revenues for fiscal year 2026 and to reallocate certain previously appropriated local funds.
Staff read Resolution 2026‑01 into the record. The resolution requests $878,126 in additional state operating funds and $147,330 in additional federal funds for FY2026; staff said the state increase is expected to come through basic school aid, compensation supplements, at‑risk funds and community school funds, and the federal increase through Title I and school improvement grants. The resolution also requests that $225,000 previously allocated for facility studies be reallocated to the FY2026 budget and that $398,187 in prior-year all‑in initiative funds be reallocated to support purchase of additional school buses. The paper packet provided to board members included revised appropriation request amounts and revised FY2026 budget totals.
Why it matters: if the Board of Supervisors approves the appropriation requests, the district’s FY2026 operating budget will increase by the requested state and federal amounts and by the specified reallocated local dollars; staff said the funding would support required instructional positions, intervention programs and additional buses.
Action: the board moved and approved the resolution during the meeting; staff said the request does not change local appropriations other than the reallocation of previously appropriated local facility and carryover funds as described in the resolution.
What to watch: the request will go to the Page County Board of Supervisors for formal action on appropriations; the board’s decision there will determine whether the district receives the additional funds and reallocations described in the resolution.
