Yukon parks moves forward with playground upgrades and a 10-year master plan; Taylor Park pulled from immediate playground list

Ryan said the plan will include community outreach (events and surveys), cost estimates for short-, mid- and long-term projects, and comparisons of staffing and operations with peer cities.
On playground procurement, Ryan said the department received more than 10 proposals for each targeted playground and that they expect to decide on three parks by the end of the week or the following Monday; Bledsoe Park proposals had an extended deadline. The parks initially considered Dickinson, Welch, Greenbelt and Taylor Park; staff removed Taylor Park from the current procurement because of floodplain concerns and will instead advance Bledsoe Park in the near term.
Staff described typical supplier lead times of "around a 10 to 12 week process" from signed agreement to installation, and estimated a likely installation window of late November to early December if agreements are signed on schedule. Ryan said the department asked firms to propose a range of play equipment and not identical fixtures across parks, to create variety in neighborhood offerings.
Discussion and direction: Board members asked that the master-plan scope include staffing comparisons, salary benchmarks and operational improvements; Ryan confirmed that staffing and comparative data with similar Oklahoma cities were included in the RFP. There were no formal votes about contracts at the meeting; the report and timeline were informational and staff will return with finalist recommendations.
Ending: The board set a tentative next meeting date of Wednesday, September 17 at 6 p.m., at which members expect to hear progress updates and may receive recommendations related to the master plan and playground agreements.
