Veterans Museum: VA clinic expansion planned; museum may lose city‑supported space in American Legion building

Rick Accchini, speaking for the Veterans Museum, said the VA clinic project on the museum campus is on track for a contract expansion to add five departments, including dental services. He said the expansion is a priority for veterans.
“The VA clinic is on track to have a contract expand the facility out there, 5 extra departments to include dental, and that's what's been a big push, for the veterans,” Accchini said.
Accchini also reported that the American Legion informed the museum he had been told the city would stop supporting the museum at that site starting in July. He asked the board to watch for possible alternative facility opportunities should the American Legion want its building back.
"The American Legion came to me and informed me that the city was no longer going to support the museums starting July. Well, that will open up another canopy, so I'm asking everyone to keep an eye open for any type of facility that we might have to move into if the American Legion wants their building back," Accchini said.
Accchini said the museum’s gala is scheduled for February and that a salute to veterans program is set for November with Cub Scout participation. He said the city had been paying the American Legion for the museum to occupy that space; he asked for vigilance about future facility needs.
This was an informational report from a museum representative; the Main Street board did not take formal action on museum facilities or city support.
