Developers forum set for Sept. 24; members flag proposed 70-unit older-adult development at 79 King Street

Keith (city staff) and other members confirmed the forum is intended as a dialogue between developers and the city to discuss housing supply and the current development environment. Keith listed confirmed speakers as Jessica Allen from Valley CDC, Allen Tierney from Conrillo Architects, and Jeff Spiritios (Spiritios developers) — the developer associated with a proposal at 79 King Street. On the 79 King Street site, staff said the parcel is the former Goggins real estate property and that the current proposal includes a roughly 70-unit project for older adults; staff said it is a separate proposal from an adjacent project on the former registry lot. No permitting decision or formal action was reported at the meeting; staff said the project appeared to be at a pre-application or early public-engagement stage and that permitting staff would have more information at public meetings. Members asked whether the forum would be in person or have a virtual option; staff said it will be held in person in the hearing room and that they would check on whether a Zoom option would also be available. The meeting will be posted on the city calendar and will follow the city's requirement to post an agenda at least 48 hours before the event.
