Tonganoxie council approves minutes and consent agenda, recesses to executive session on annexation

The Tonganoxie City Council on March 17 approved the minutes from its March 3 meeting and the consent agenda listing prior period bill payments, then recessed into an executive session to obtain legal advice on annexation.
At the start of the meeting, Council Member Partridge moved to approve the March 3 minutes; Council Member Donnelly seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote. The consent agenda covering bill payments was similarly approved by voice vote after a motion and second.
Later in the meeting Council Member McCutcheon moved that the council recess to an executive session "to obtain legal advice regarding annexation pursuant to the attorney-client consultation exception in KSA 75-4319(b)(2)." The motion specified the session would include the city attorney, city manager and city clerk and that the open meeting would resume at 7:30 p.m. The council went into executive session by voice vote.
The council returned to open session and the mayor reported that "no binding action was taken in the executive session." Council Member Dale moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded and the meeting adjourned by voice vote.
The meeting also included a staff note that the monthly budget report would be presented at the next meeting and that a recognition for the state championship wrestling team is scheduled for April 7.
