Council approves issuance of RFP for 2025 sanitary sewer project near public library

The Tonganoxie City Council on June 2 approved issuance of a request for proposals for the 2025 sanitary sewer project covering mains near the Tonganoxie Public Library and corridors between East Second and Third streets.
City staff described the multi‑method project — slip lining, pipe bursting and open‑trench replacement — based on CCTV inspections that identified sections of failing sewer main. Staff said the project area includes easements previously accepted by the council and that some homeowner easements remain under finalization.
BG Consultants prepared the draft bid documents, which staff will post on Drexel and the city procurement portal. Staff said the documents contained template edits and that a cleaned version can be posted if requested, but recommended moving forward so the procurement schedule is not delayed. The council moved and approved issuing the RFP; staff will return to the council later with contract award recommendations after bids are received and evaluated.
No contract award was made at the meeting.
