Council approves city attorney contract with Vose Law Firm

Orange City Council on Aug. 12 approved contract P253‑25 to retain Vose Law Firm as the city's legal services provider. Council authorized the city manager to execute the contract and annual blanket purchase orders for legal services as budgeted.
City Manager Dale Arrington told council that the governing body interviewed three firms on July 15 and selected Vose Law Firm. Arrington said staff negotiated the agreement and a transition plan with the current city attorney; under the plan the city would pay the new firm for a half month in August and then begin full service once the contract and any staffing decisions are finalized.
Arrington also said the city's new city attorney, Paul Waters (with Vose Law Firm), is expected to sit at the dais for upcoming meetings as part of the transition. The council approved the contract by roll call vote.
What happens next: staff will finalize the transition plan, transfer files from the current city attorney and begin work with Vose Law Firm under the terms of contract P253‑25.
