District 15 begins PowerSchool migration and expands classroom technology ahead of school year

District 15 technology staff and administrators told the board the district is in the final stages of migrating to a new student information system (PowerSchool) and rolling out classroom technology in time for the school year.

Superintendent Lori Haynes said the district is performing an overnight migration that will run Friday into the weekend and described a multi‑day registration push that was already underway; she said several hundred families were still completing registration but that sign‑ups were increasing daily. Technology staff reported the district is deploying a second wave of interactive classroom boards and that devices are being imaged and assigned to staff and students ahead of institute days.

Haynes said staff training on PowerSchool, instructional technology expectations and the smartphone guidance will be a major focus of institute days for administrators and teachers. The district will run role‑specific PowerSchool sessions for different staff functions and will provide additional professional development for STEM teachers and those using new instructional resources.

Why it matters: A large data migration and simultaneous device deployment can create temporary disruption to registration, classroom access and staff communications. Administrators said they had an overnight migration window scheduled and that staff would wait to send teacher welcome letters until after the overnight migration completes.

Ending: Technology services will continue to support schools through institute days and the first weeks of instruction and will provide updates to the board if the migration or device rollouts encounter issues.
