Capital outlay in recent years funded HVAC, roofing and safety projects, and ESSER funding supported one‑to‑one devices and instructional supports during the pandemic.
Recent awards and proposals: For the current fiscal year Ida listed awarded state and private grants, and said the district received roughly $14.9 million in federal ESSA formula grants (Title I, migrant, Title II). Awarded private grants named included a contribution used toward a campus amphitheater and foundation grants supporting teacher pipelines and health‑care pathway capacity. Pending applications included a food‑truck proposal for culinary students and other program grants.
Board questions and follow-up: Board members asked how the ESSER/COVID funding affected long‑term grant trends; Ida confirmed removing ESSER would lower the 20‑year total by about $101.8 million. Another board member asked how the district compares with similar districts in grant revenue; Ida said staff will research comparative figures and report back. Ida also confirmed specific private donations (including an annual Tichenor donation to Austin Elementary) and noted ongoing outreach to foundations.
