Board reviews budget outlook and capital purchases; staff warns capital funds largely committed

District finance staff told the 3 Rivers Local School District Board of Education on Aug. 12 that the state-reporting schedule and budget processes have changed and that the district’s capital budget is already substantially committed for the year.
Treasury and finance staff said the state moved the district filing schedule from the traditional November/May cycle to October/April for this year and will move to an August/February schedule next year. Staff said the state is shifting from a five-year forecast presentation to a three-year filing for state purposes; the district will continue to present a five-year forecast for local planning.
