Temple ISD outlines OER transition and Bluebonnet implementation supports for K–5 and algebra 1

Administrators briefed the board Aug. 11 on Temple ISD’s Open Educational Resources (OER) transition plan tied to the recent adoption of Bluebonnet Learning K–5 resources for math and reading and a new Algebra I resource.
Doctor Rogers described a five-part roadmap developed with SustainEd, emphasizing two primary goals: get the materials into teacher use and ensure teachers have a positive experience using them. She told trustees that elementary leadership led by Doctor Watson has organized delivery, adjusted master schedules where needed, arranged PLC time and provided professional learning. "We started training all the way back in May, we've done training in the summer, and we had training for 3 days last week on the resources," Rogers said.
Other plan elements include building observation-and-feedback practices, integrating the resources into existing professional learning communities, and aligning assessment strategies so that formative and summative assessments work with the new materials. Rogers said the district sought to integrate the new elements without adding burdensome extra requirements for teachers.
No board action was required; trustees received the transition plan and asked clarifying questions about teacher supports and assessment alignment.
