The board approved multiple handbooks covering data, curriculum and teaching-and-learning practices and discussed the format for an upcoming School Improvement Plan (SIP) and curriculum workshop.
Assistant Superintendent Jake Massey told trustees the secondary novel sets are approved and elementary novel sets will be presented in the fall; he also offered to bring a draft SIP plan to a board workshop. Trustees said they wanted a focused workshop that allows trustees and the public to review data, ask questions and examine whether school improvement measures are measurable and district-appropriate.
Why it matters: School handbooks and SIPs are used by teachers, administrators and parents to understand curriculum, performance data and improvement strategies. Trustees asked district staff to ensure handbooks accurately list district leadership names and to provide minutes-friendly summaries of substantive changes.
Board action: Trustees moved to approve the handbooks as presented; the motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will bring a draft SIP for board workshop discussion in September and ensure remaining handbook edits (assistant superintendent/superintendent names, policy references) are corrected before final distribution.
