Committee examines emergency school-closure language and Idaho certification statutes

The committee also requested that referenced forms and links be included in the policy packet so trustees and administrators can locate the state emergency-closure form and related guidance.

No changes to the substantive grounds for closures were made at the meeting; committee members confirmed that the board’s authorization to close schools remains tied to a superintendent recommendation and state certification for reporting and funding purposes. Staff will return with revised policy language that includes statutory citations and a brief description of the certification step used for state reporting.
