The county said the region hosts heavy recreation: 1.2 million visits to the five CPW state parks in the county in 2024 (Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, Stagecoach, Elkhead and Yampa River state parks) while the county’s year‑round population is roughly 26,000.
