Henderson County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a contract with Election Systems & Software (ES&S) for 38 express electronic poll books and associated support services for the Elections and Voter Registration Department.
Elections staff told the court ES&S is an approved vendor under the Texas Secretary of State and the state procurement buy board, and that the purchase would simplify check-in processes at polling locations. The contract is a one-year term with a renewable option; staff indicated the software agreement portion of the purchase was expected to cost about $98,000 in addition to the equipment, and that the county's existing voting equipment and battery purchases would remain separate.
The court approved the contract with the county judge authorized to sign. Staff said the ES&S equipment would replace the county's older poll-book vendor and streamline poll operations.
