Paul Lund Hopelon, a resident, asked the Woodbridge Township Board of Education on Aug. 28 whether the state had replaced Pearson as the standardized-testing vendor and whether the district had been notified. "I read an article recently about the the standardized testing company is no longer Pearson," Hopelon said, adding that some superintendents appeared "caught off guard."
Superintendent Doctor Massimino told the board he had not received information about any vendor change. "I haven't been given or received any information. I imagine when school starts, when we start our county meetings, that information should be forthcoming," Massimino said.
Why it matters: standardized tests and their vendors affect district administration, scheduling and preparation; sudden vendor changes can require new logistics, materials or training. The board did not take formal action at the meeting and no additional information about the vendor change was provided.
Board members did not discuss or vote on testing policy at the meeting. Massimino indicated he expects further details at the start of the school year and during county-level meetings; until the district receives official guidance, the board will not change testing procedures.
No formal motions or directives related to the testing vendor were introduced during the public-comment exchange.
