EDC approves final payments for Los Velas road widening project

The Economic Development Corporation approved two final payments tied to the Los Velas Road widening project during its Aug. 25 meeting.

The board approved payment of $5,577 to Saints for final engineering services related to the project after a project representative told the board that site visits and the project engineer confirmed completion. Mr. Pena said, "I spoke to my project engineer. I went by the site, and everything looked great." The board approved the payment by voice vote.

The board also approved payment to G8 Utilities in the amount of $83,834 for completed work that included utility adjustments, site restoration and compliance with project specifications. Staff said the engineer had inspected and signed off on the work. Board members described the payment as the last disbursement to that contractor for their portion of the project; staff said the figure represented the amount due under G8 Utilities' contract.

Ending: Both payments were approved by voice vote; staff said they would close out the project files and return any final documentation if needed.
