Palm Beach County ethics office plans training video, reports recent municipal outreach

The Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics staff told commissioners on Aug. 7 that the office has delivered multiple municipal presentations and is preparing a new ethics training video to be released in the coming months.

“Since our last meeting in July, staff has made presentations at the meetings of the Delray Beach DDA and the city of Riviera Beach,” the commissions executive director said. “Staff also presented 2 ethics trainings for the employees of the town of Lake Park and then presented 1 ethics training for the town of Lake Clark Shores. ... our office is gearing up to produce and release a new ethics training video, so be on the lookout for that in the next few months. And we're also in the process of updating our rules of procedure, and that will be presented to you for your approval when those are done.”

The remarks came during a brief, largely procedural meeting in which commissioners approved the minutes from the July 10 meeting and cleared items on the consent agenda. No public comments were offered.

The executive directors summary listed four recent outreach events by name: Delray Beach DDA, the city of Riviera Beach, and ethics training sessions for employees of the towns of Lake Park and Lake Clarke Shores. The office also told commissioners it is revising its internal rules of procedure and will return with the proposed changes for formal approval.

Commissioners who spoke at the meeting praised the preview of the planned video; one commissioner noted the production involved Channel 20, which provided coaching and support. The executive director did not provide an exact release date beyond "the next few months." The meeting lasted about six minutes and 13 seconds.

Next steps noted by staff: finalize the rules-of-procedure revisions and present them to the commission for approval; complete and publish the training video as scheduled by staff.
