Commission on Ethics says staff completed outreach, schedules weeks of countywide ethics trainings

The executive director told commissioners that since the August meeting staff presented at the Delray Beach Housing Authority, the Village of Palm Springs and the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, and that they have finished visiting all municipalities and special districts under the commission’s jurisdiction. “We have now finished, or they have finished, visiting all the municipalities and the special districts that were under our jurisdiction,” the executive director said.
Why this matters: the commission’s outreach is the primary vehicle the office uses to deliver mandated ethics training and guidance to local officials and employees. The executive director said the office will “gear up and begin again starting in September” to provide additional sessions.
The executive director said staff also delivered trainings for Town of Jupiter employees and presented two ethics trainings for the City of Greenacres. She said staff appreciate in‑person sessions because, based on survey responses, attendees “get more out of the live in‑person trainings than just watching it online passively.” She added, “Rhonda will be delivering nearly 4 consecutive weeks of ethics training for employees and officials around the county. So she's gonna be quite busy, and we will not we will miss seeing her around the office.”
Staff noted that Liz will participate in the Palm Beach County Department Fair later this month to further outreach. The executive director closed the staff update by saying that is what the office has scheduled and looks forward to offering.
On routine business, commissioners approved the minutes from the Aug. 7, 2025 meeting and approved the consent agenda after motions and seconding on both items; no items were pulled for separate consideration. The meeting adjourned shortly after the staff update and a brief exchange about the former League of Cities executive director.
