Alta commissioners on Aug. 27 asked staff to amend the July minutes to clarify the commission’s intent on workforce and caretaker housing conditions.
Several commissioners recalled that the July discussion contemplated three workforce/on-site employee housing units, and that the commission intended at least one of those units to be dedicated for a live-in caretaker with a minimum livable area. Commissioner Paulie and others said the caretaker unit was discussed as a full-time residence and should be recorded as having a minimum size; commissioners used 650 square feet as the stated minimum during the July discussion.
Commissioners asked staff to revise the minutes to reflect that the development agreement and related approvals still contemplate three workforce units overall, and that one of those three is intended to be a caretaker unit with the minimum livable floor area discussed (650 square feet). No change to the underlying agreements was made at the Aug. 27 meeting; the commission’s action was to clarify the minutes’ wording.
