School committee approves 2025–26 student handbook and Valley View curriculum

The North Brookfield School Committee voted to approve the district’s 2025–26 student handbook and separately approved the Valley View School’s 2025–26 curriculum during the meeting. Committee members said the handbook consolidates policies on discipline, attendance, special education (including Section 504 and IEP processes) and contact points for families; the committee approved posting the document on the district website.
Superintendent McCormick and administrators described the handbook as a comprehensive, 91-page guide that will be reviewed with students during the first days of school and will require families to acknowledge receipt. "We want to give students and families as much access as possible to this document," the superintendent said when introducing the handbook.
On the Valley View curriculum — a program of studies for the private school within town boundaries — the committee approved minor updates that the district reviews annually as part of accreditation and oversight. Committee members said they did not identify any substantive changes of concern.
Motions to approve both documents were made and seconded; members voted in favor. The committee noted that policy edits during the year would prompt handbook updates, and that the approved versions will be uploaded to the district website. There was no executive-session discussion or amendments to either approval at the meeting.
