A proposed settlement and release concerning 742 East Eighth Street and Trail Creek litigation was tabled by the Michigan City Redevelopment Commission on Aug. 18 after staff reported the other party had not yet signed the proposed agreement.
Commission legal staff summarized multi-year negotiations with the property owner and said the commission had a proposed agreement ready for approval if the respondent had signed. Staff said the respondent had not executed the document and therefore the commission would defer action until the other party confirmed their approval. The commission voted to table the item until its September meeting.
Legal staff indicated negotiations have involved multiple court hearings over a period of years and that final execution by all parties remains necessary before the commission will take a formal vote.
