Schinson said the updates primarily clarify responsibilities, add resources for teachers on copyright/fair use and tidy statutory references. A board member raised trademark and logo questions; staff said they will return with options for protecting district marks and clarify whether the district will pursue trademarks at state or federal level.
Trustees also discussed a recently enacted state statute that adds certain valid excuses for student attendance; staff said the district will list all statutory valid excuses in its attendance policy to maintain consistency.
