District plans network MDF move and requests $14,310 in title funds for classroom headsets and microphones

Staff said they were coordinating with the district’s ISP/managed‑service provider (Blue Ridge referenced in discussion) to ensure redundancy of fiber and reduce single‑point‑of‑failure risk during and after the move. They said the district would sequence changes to limit service outages and consider temporary mitigations during the transition.
Separately, staff reported an inventory of classroom audio equipment and proposed purchasing a replacement set of student headsets and microphones for the elementary school (PPE) at a cost to be charged to Title I; staff gave an estimated total figure in the working session and said they will place a formal procurement item on the next board meeting agenda. Staff said devices would be school‑based equipment and remain on site rather than issued for students to take home.
The board asked about life expectancy, storage and staff training. Technology leadership said they expect a multi‑year life for quality headsets and will pair the purchase with storage/management practices and teacher guidance on in‑class use.
