The board discussed proposed revisions to the district Hall of Fame bylaws that the athletics committee circulated. Committee members recommended integrating Hall of Fame recognition with the annual AAA awards night to expand visibility for non‑athletic honorees (art, science, club contributors) and to increase community nominations.
Committee presenters said combining the events would give parents and relatives an opportunity to see the Hall of Fame inductees during a high‑attendance awards night and could encourage more nominations from outside athletics. The committee also proposed extending the current nomination deadline (historically October 1) to January 1 if the induction is moved to year‑end recognition; doing so would lengthen the nomination window and allow the committee time to select up to five candidates who meet the criteria.
Board members asked about logistics — whether the halftime recognition window (15 minutes) would provide sufficient time for recognition and whether a separate reception should still be held. Committee members proposed a reception in spring and said the committee had updated bylaws and would return with a final draft; the board signaled that it expects to take formal action at a future meeting once language is finalized.
