The board approved an intermunicipal agreement for pupil transportation between April Park Central School District and neighboring districts for the 2025'026 school year and voted to approve a block of special-education placement agreements.
During discussion before the vote, board members and staff described recent work to make bus routes more efficient and noted the district is fully staffed in transportation for the upcoming year. "A ton of work has gone into making the runs more efficient," a staff member said, and the board thanked the Transportation team for coordination with neighboring districts.
Administrators told the board the transportation department achieved a 100 percent passing rate on the annual DOD inspection and completed an internal review of emergency procedures after a bus accident prompted improvements to emergency contacts, communications and equipment. The district said it has a fleet-electrification study underway and is awaiting the final consultant report; staff said they plan to present findings to the board when available.
A single motion to approve multiple related items was carried unanimously, and board members praised the temporary and ongoing staffing changes and the department—s work on safety protocols and training.
