Board authorizes advertising to solicit bids for four 72-passenger school buses

The Green Local School District Board of Education voted unanimously to authorize advertising and receiving bids through the Ohio Schools Council Cooperative for four 72-passenger school bus chassis and bodies.
"This is not tying us to anything. This is a required process to be able to get what the cost would be for, obviously, in this case, 4... buses," a board member said during discussion. A motion to approve the Ohio Schools Council Cooperative advertising and receipt of bids was offered by a board member and seconded; the board recorded a 5-0 vote in favor.
During discussion, a board member asked about a previously discussed electric-bus program and whether it remains active; a participant replied, "My understanding is the grant's been put on hold." Board members said the advertisement will provide cost information as the district continues efforts to modernize its fleet.
The district did not adopt a purchase contract at the meeting; the approval authorizes the solicitation of bids so staff can analyze proposals and return to the board with recommendations.
