The District 155 Board of Education voted to waive the first-reading requirement and approve revisions to several personnel and student policies, including the uniform grievance procedure and Title IX grievance procedure. Mr. Nabilio, assistant superintendent of human resources, presented the item and asked the board for a motion on the policy revisions listed in the agenda packet. The policies in the approved package included policy 2-260 (uniform grievance procedure), 2-265 (Title IX grievance procedure), 5-10 (equal employment opportunity and minority recruitment), 5-20 (workplace harassment prohibited), 5-100 (staff development program) and several student-focused policies including 7-10 (equal educational opportunities), 7-20 (harassment of students prohibited), 7-180 (prevention of and response to bullying, intimidation and harassment) and 7-185 (teen dating violence prohibited). Board members approved the motion on roll call. Later in the meeting, Nabilio clarified that a second group of policies listed under item C had been reviewed in committee and received a first reading (no waiver or final approval sought that evening), and those first-reading items will return for subsequent action as needed. The votes on the approval were recorded as yes by all members present on the roll call for that motion.
