County awards bleachers for fairgrounds; officials say roughly $80,000 remains from congressional funding

Department of Public Works staff told the board that bidding for bleachers at the county fairgrounds concluded and that the low bidder, E & D Specialty Stands, offered transportable aluminum bleachers for $49,006.70 installed. The board approved awarding the contract by voice vote. Staff said the purchase will be installed and that, after the bleacher purchase, approximately $80,000 will remain from the congressional allocation earmarked for fairgrounds improvements. Staff noted the initial congressional funding total was about $460,000 and that the fair board will discuss priorities for any remaining funds, such as roof painting or other projects. A board member thanked staff for securing a favorable bid; no additional action or appropriation was taken at the meeting beyond the award.
