The Finance Committee voted to send a resolution to the county board to reorganize the Lee County finance director position under the county administrator and to update the county’s financial policies and procedures to reflect that operational change.

Committee members said the reorganization aims to create a consistent, long‑term finance director role that provides continuity across elected treasurers. Jeremy (county staff) said the policy updates are largely definitional and operational: they align onboarding, payroll, recordkeeping and separation‑of‑duties language to match existing practice and the new reporting structure. He said the draft changes are intended to reflect current operations and that staff will continue to refine the documents as needed.

Paul (treasurer) said he had not had time to review the draft in detail but indicated he expects to be comfortable if the changes are largely definitional rather than substantive accounting changes. The committee approved moving the resolution and the draft policy amendments to the executive committee and then to the county board with the normal holdover period for ordinances and policy changes.

Committee members asked for an updated organization chart to reflect the new reporting relationships; staff said an updated org chart will be provided as the policy changes are finalized.
