The LaSalle County Public Safety Committee approved several courthouse security upgrades including a new door between the State’s Attorney’s office and the courts and fob installations for controlled access doors.

Staff described a security assessment recommendation to build a door between the State’s Attorney’s office and the courthouse to improve staff safety and limit public access. The full installation (door, wall modification and electronic access wiring) was estimated at $13,110. Committee members also approved a fob system for a back door to central services and additional panic button/fob work at the downtown courthouse basement door. The combined total quoted during the meeting for the security items was $26,665.48.

A motion to pay for the work out of public‑safety funds was made by Ray and seconded by Joanne; the committee voted in favor. Staff said the work and associated invoices will be routed through finance.
